Do you know how to listen to your body?  Do you know how to interpret the messages?  Do you do what your body is asking?

I know how to listen to my body, know how to interpret the messages, and STILL didn’t do what my body was asking.  After a couple weeks of lots of miles in my car on a road trip, then some heavy lifting, and lack of sleep my back was getting my attention that it needed a rest.  I continued on with my regular schedule doing all my activities and exercise.  No rest for the weary.

While I was working out, I pushed a bit too much and my back began to scream at me.  I couldn’t move and realized I’d better listen.  I missed the message the first several times.  Yikes!!

Have you ever done that?  Pushed yourself physically when you just KNOW you need to take a break?  Drink too much caffeine and wonder why you can’t sleep well at night?  Or eat something that doesn’t agree with you and have a tummy ache?

As we are coming to the end of summer and getting ready for our regular routines, let’s consider what the body needs and truly listen.
  • Achy breaky back – stand up tall and reach for the stars, you’ll feel a slight adjustment in your spine that will stretch and lengthen in a good way
  • Not sleeping well – stop the caffeine by noon and switch to herbal tea, infused water (fruits and veggies taste oh so good), decrease or eliminate sugar for a week and truly notice a difference in your sleep and brain function
  • Indigestion after meals – slow down and chew your food completely, drink water with your meals (what did you eat and were you relaxed)
  • Anxiety – this is a biggie because so many people have stress; go for a walk and truly SEE the wonders of nature as you consider what is going on with the critters; take several deep cleansing breaths to calm your nervous system

These are just a few simple ideas for you to incorporate into your day.  What do you do that works when your body is talking to you?  Do you listen right away or does your body have to scream to get your attention?

I’d love to hear your experiences, so reply to this message tell me all about it.
