Smoothies for Healthy Glowing Skin

Acne can be a terrible experience for most people, regardless of age. The misconception from people who have not had skin issues is that it is only topical. The truth is, severe acne can be very painful and cause pain in the face, or the affected area, and severe discomfort throughout the day.  If you find yourself dealing with this, you may have heard that food can be medicine but felt that it would not work with acne. The truth is, it may work for you if you combine foods to make a smoothie. Here are some smoothies that can help.

Beginner Smoothie

This smoothie is great if you are new to smoothies and want to start clearing your skin. It is designed to help you begin a routine that may help reduce acne.

This smoothie is simple to prepare.
1 frozen banana, ½ an avocado, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 ½ cups spinach, and 1 cup coconut milk.
Blend ingredients together.
You may start seeing results in a matter of a few days.

Pina Colada Smoothie

Pina Colada is a tropical smoothie that is nourishing and healing for your skin AND provides energy.
Blend together:  1 cup pineapple, 1 ½ cups spinach, 1 frozen banana, 3 tablespoons coconut flakes, and 1 cup coconut milk or water.

The natural boost in minerals and phytonutrients help reduce cravings for sugar and salt.  Salt and sugar are harmful to healthy and glowing skin.

Vegetable Garden Smoothie

Let’s explore how you can add more vegetables to your diet.  The vegetable garden smoothie tends to remind people of popular vegetable juices. You may add any vegetables you like, but the most common base is tomato.

Start with 3 tomatoes.  Then add fresh herbs like rosemary, cilantro, and parsley. One cup of carrots, celery, and cucumbers also help boost vitamins and minerals.  If you prefer a bit of sweetness and more fiber, add an apple.

BERRY BEAUTIFUL

For a healthy glowing skin, try this very tasty and simple smoothie that you will love every morning.

1 ½ cups dairy free milk or coconut water
1 cup of mixed berries (frozen)
1 cup spinach
½ avocado
1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

I like to add a scoop of NeoLife vanilla protein powder to my smoothies for that extra boost of protein energy I need to start my day.
